Advice Corner

Now that the holidays are over and school is in full swing, I'm sure everyone is feeling overwhelmed and stressed. If you're anything like me, you've spent the past week wondering how you are possibly going to get through the long school year. Although all the work can be challenging from time to time, I am going to share with you some of the best advice for keeping a positive attitude, even during the busiest weeks. For starters, I would suggest that everyone get involved in a club or sport that they are interested in. Our school offers a variety of different extracurricular activities ranging from wrestling to chess to all different types of art. Intertwining school with what you are passionate about will make hard and dreadful days more exciting and lively.

Additionally, something that many students tend to overlook is that our teachers are there to help us, and we shouldn't take that for granted. If you ever need extra help, have a serious problem with a deadline, or are really nervous about a test, a harmless solution is asking a teacher for their advice or help. I know that it can be super intimidating, but your teachers want you to succeed so don't be shy to ask them for a favor.

Lastly, do your assignments as soon as you receive them. I know that this sounds like boring, obvious advice, but most students leave work until that last minute and end up failing because of it. I have been using this strategy since the beginning of high school and I cannot tell you how much stress and late nights it has saved me. Your teachers will schedule tests and assign work quickly and unexpectedly so having assignments done ahead of time will keep you up to date and minimize stress.

I hope that you will all apply this advice to your studies and that it will be beneficial towards your success. Wishing everyone a successful and enjoyable year ahead!!
