While there are many clubs offered at North Shore, each focusing on different talents, activities, and potential future professions, the Fashion Club is undoubtedly one of my favorites. Often, it can be difficult for one to express their personality through their everyday school outfits, either due to the dress code, peer pressure, or simply having no energy to put effort into their outfit that early in the morning before having coffee. In the Fashion Club, students can create outfits without any dress code barriers and design clothing for any occasion. The club meets every Tuesday during lunch and focuses on a specific unit every few weeks. I always look forward to coming to this club because it gives me a chance to relax, get my mind off schoolwork, and focus on my artistic side. It can be really satisfying to get ideas that have been running through your head down on paper, and it is a great way to lighten up your day after hours of classes and schoolwork, which can be really stressful. Another thing I absolutely love about this club is how it does not turn down those who are inexperienced or have less artistic abilities than others; instead, they are included and taught many techniques and skills that they can use in their work. The Fashion Club is a fun and easy way to explore your creativity in fashion design and it allows you to express your emotions and style without needing to commit to a real fashion class. Sofia Lopresti, one of the Fashion Club members, describes fashion as being a “very fun and creative area of art, reasons being that you can experiment a lot with it, create exciting pieces, and even bring your drawings to life.” I encourage all students to look into the fashion club. It may be the perfect club for you; you never know until you try.
