Gun Violence- Team Trump

The 2nd amendment states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”. Donald Trump believes in this amendment, but at the same time he also understands the importance of making sure that it is the correct people that have the ability to get firearms. In order to prevent school shootings the most effective way to protect the students is to arm the faculty at the schools. By doing this the staff of schools are not only able to protect the students, they are also able to deter attacks because of their ability to fight back. If there are strict gun control laws the only people that will be affected are the law abiding citizens. However, if gun control laws are too lenient anyone will be able to get a gun. So President Trump is in favor of having background checks to allow those who are qualified, to own guns, instead of those who are not. Additionally, President Trump also wants states to adopt red flag laws, so courts can take away guns from potentially dangerous people. The 2nd amendment must be respected, and President Trump understands that, because of that he is hesitant to ban citizens from getting assault rifles. Trump understands that the 2nd amendment is meant to protect the citizens from a Government that does not respect their rights. The founding fathers added this amendment because they have just fought a war to get away from a government that took advantage of its power and took away the citizens rights. In contrast to this Vice-President Biden and the democratic party want to ban assault rifles and institute a buyback program that would only take away guns from the citizens who follow and respect the law. This would leave the United States citizens unable to defend themselves from not only dangerous criminals, but also from the government itself. The 2nd amendment is very clear, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”, and President Trump understands and respects this constitutional right, while at the same time striving to lower gun violence, and school shootings not by giving guns to those who will abuse them, but to those who will correctly use them to protect themselves and others.
