As we all know, October 7th, 2023 marked the beginning of the terrors taking place in Israel. We’ve witnessed the loss of 1400 Israelis and the capture of 240 innocent civilians and soldiers. Although this is a hard time for us as a Jewish nation, it is a time for us to come together and realize that even when we don’t agree on certain things we are all still living to reach one goal. We must stay united as a Jewish nation to preserve our culture and religion as one. In Israel, the IDF is working on many operations to make this war come to an end in a victory. We’ve made tremendous progress from the October 7 massacre to now. The IDF soldiers have started ground operations in Gaza striving to get our 240 brothers and sisters back. As of now, we have rescued Ori Megidish, a 19 year old soldier who was abducted from an Israeli army base. She has been returned home safely, and hopefully in the near future many more people will return to their families. In other good news, the IDF successfully destroyed 130 tunnel shafts since our ground operation began. In addition, over 9,000 rockets have been fired into Israel most of which have been intercepted by our iron dome. Rockets have been incoming from Gaza in the south and Lebanon from the north. Other countries are joining the attack, but the IDF has been resilient in their defense with the help of Hashem. It is our responsibility as students at North Shore Hebrew Academy to pray for our soldiers, and give them our support in every way possible. Thankfully, the United States has been a huge supporter and ally, playing a major role by sending armory, supplies and protection that are contributing to our success. We have yet to know what the IDF will do from this point on, however operations are continuing to be carried out.
