New Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Choudhury

Mr. Choudhury is North Shore Hebrew Academy High School’s newest Science Research teacher. Born and raised in New York, Mr. Choudhury has many passions outside the realm of science. He loves watching movies and reading books (his personal favorite is Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes), and enjoys learning about anything and everything. He also enjoys music and multitasking, especially when the two of them go together. He's discovered that he works more efficiently when ] doing multiple things at once, as it forces him to think and focus much more in order to accomplish his goal.

Even from a young age, Mr. Choudhury knew that he wanted to work in one of the STEM fields, but the idea was cemented when he began watching an anime show called “Fullmetal Alchemist”. The show follows the story of people who discover how to connect mechanical limbs to human nerves, a concept that intrigued him immensely.

Mr. Choudhury’s favorite fields of science are chemistry and physics, but he has an interest in biomedicine as well. He's always been interested in testing the limits and [limitless] possibilities of science and is constantly trying to further his knowledge of it. When he saw the job listing for NSHAHS, he thought it’d be a great opportunity to be introduced to students who enjoy science as much as he does, and discover new potential for science research. In coming to North Shore, Mr. Choudhury hopes to learn more about science along with us, as we gather data and conduct research. He is also hoping to re-immerse himself in his own scientific research.

A piece of advice from Mr. Choudhury: “It’s important to know how to relax, because being constantly stressed has the potential to hold you back from so much in life. Being able to loosen up also helps you stay focused on the task at hand, which can prove to be a useful skill in day-to-day life.” I couldn't have said it better, and I can't wait to learn and grow together with Mr. Choudhury this upcoming school year!
