This Week in the NBA

This past week the NBA has already seen drastic changes and free agency hasn’t even started yet. With no clear favorite for next season, many teams believe they will be the ones to claim the championship next year, and have made moves to make them better. Here are some of the most important trades summarized from the past week.

1. Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns, but that’s not all

Chris Paul was finally traded from OKC this week to the Phoenix Suns, who desperately needed to find a star to keep Devin Booker happy. After his All NBA performance last season, Paul’s stock was at its peak as he led a 44-win OKC team, and he was traded for NBA vet Ricky Rubio, as well as young promising players such as Ty Jerome, Jalen Leque and Kelly Oubre.

Oubre has since been traded again to the Golden State Warriors (who sadly have lost Klay Thomson to a season ending achilles tear,) and Rubio was packaged to go back to Minnesota. The Suns finally paired up Devin Booker with a star, and the Thunder added to their treasure trove of assets

2. Jrue Holiday (and Bogdan Bogdanovic?) to the Milwaukee Bucks

In another effort for a team to keep their star happy, the Bucks traded Bledsoe, Hill and three first rounders for All Defensive guard Jrue Holiday. The move added more defensive talent to the already one of the best defensive teams in the league. In a strange turn of events, the Sacramento Kings agreed to trade Bogdan Bogdanovic to the Bucks too in a sign and trade, but forgot to have Bogdan sign the deal and the trade ended up falling through. The Bucks still hope to land him.

3. Robert Covington to the Portland Trail Blazers

A very underrated move, the Blazers added a sharpshooter who also happens to be a top defender to pair with Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum on the perimet, making the team much better in the deep Western Conference.

4. The LA Lakers land Dennis Schroer and the Sixers add shooting

The Los Angeles Lakers practically stole Dennis Schroer, NBA Sixth Man runner rup, for Danny Green and a first round pick. The Lakers added a great playmaker to replace the predicted loss of Rajon Rondo, and the Thunder have since traded Danny Green to Philly for Al Horford. The Sixers didn’t stop there and also traded Josh Richardson for one of the best shooters in the NBA, Seth Curry. The Sixers landed to great shooters that will hopefully make up for the team’s failures in being able to make threes.
