North Shore Stars Compete in the Scott Satran Memorial Tournament

Noah Baruch

This past week, the boys’ varsity basketball team took part in the Scott Satran Memorial Tournament. For North Shore, the tournament began with a highly competitive loss against Ramaz on Thursday night and ended with a dominating victory over Rambam on late Sunday afternoon. The tournament takes place in HAFTR High School every year, with many different teams from the Yeshiva League joining to compete. This year, 8 teams competed in the tournament: North Shore Hebrew Academy, Magen David Yeshivah, Rambam, Ramaz, JEC, HAFTR, DRS and Waterberry. The tournament begins with each team playing against one another to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Then, on Saturday night, the playoffs commence with a one-game elimination format. On Saturday night, North Shore took on a highly anticipated matchup against HAFTR High School in their playoff game. It was a close game and many of our North Shore student body came to support the team from the stands. While North Shore ultimately lost, a handful of 11th graders were finally able to play for longer periods in the game, which gave us a sneak peek as to what the varsity team will look like next year. Junior Benjamin Mottehedah says, “This tournament wasn't just about the games we tried to win. It was about coming together as a team and playing with the seniors for our last time this year.” Our North Shore team gave it their all on the court for their last game of the season!
