Senior "World of Work" Internship Program

As I’m sure most students have noticed, North Shore seniors are no longer roaming school hallways or blasting music in the lunchroom. It’s been pretty quiet lately. So, what exactly have they been up to? Well, you’re about to find out!

For the entire month of May, all seniors must participate in North Shore’s "World of Work" program run by Mrs. Zabinsky and Mr. Garfinkel. In an effort to help students mature and prepare for a successful future, students must work a nine-to-five job that they attend five days a week. Students have the option of securing a job for themselves or picking from the various job listings North Shore has to offer. This includes interning for Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, shadowing the executive director of the Adaptive Design Association, assisting the medical staff at ProKids Pediatrics, and plenty more. As long as the school approves it, students are free to work wherever they’d like. Understandably, though, they cannot work for their parents. To make sure seniors are doing as they should, teachers occasionally check in at their job sites and watch them in action.

Senior Natalie Basal chose to intern for the North Shore Hebrew Academy Elementary School, assisting them in marketing, social media, events, and communications. As she said, “It has been such a pleasure to intern at the elementary school with Abby Weiss. I get to interact with such amazing kids and learn how marketing works. I love it here!” Senior Anna Novick is also having lots of fun working for the Color Theory Art Studio. She says, “I love working with kids every day and helping them paint- something I enjoy doing in my free time. I’ve gained a lot of patience and learned what it’s like to promote a business through social media. I’m so grateful for this opportunity.”

So, yes, while I’m sure the seniors are deeply missed in school, there is no need to worry because they are having plenty of fun!
