Sports Section: Future Hall of Fame Quarterback on the Move?

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is looking to move on from the team after a series of events unfolded, leading to his frustration with the organization. Rodgers and the Packers had just come off a season where they lost in the NFC Conference Championship game, one game away from the Super Bowl. The draft is generally where teams look to solidify their team, and contenders try to fill the holes in the roster, enabling them to make a Super Bowl run. The Packers never drafted a 1st round wide receiver in the time that Aaron Rodgers was on the team. Many believe, however, that they were a player away from making another title run. The 2020 NFL Draft was known to a ‘deep’ WR class. When the Packers traded up in the 1st round, everyone thought it was for a receiver; however, the unthinkable happened, and the Packers traded up for Quarterback Jordan Love, Utah State. This reminded many of when the Packers drafted Rodgers after drafting Brett Farve under center. The entire sports world was caught off guard, believing that this was the first domino to fall. Rodgers went into the season with a chip on his shoulder and had a career year. At just 37 years old, he won NFL MVP and made it to the NFC Championship, where the Packers organization made yet another mistake. With two minutes and five seconds left on the game clock, the opponent at the 8-yard line, down 5, on 4th, Matt Laufer sent out the kicking team to take 3 points. Rather than putting the ball in the hands of the MVP, the Packers gave the ball back to Tom Brady. At this point, they had to get just 1 or 2 first downs to make it to the Super Bowl. This was poorly thought out by the team as they would have to get a stop, regardless if they made the field goal or went for 4th. They, unfortunately, did not take the chance, and this greatly upset Rodgers. “It wasn’t my decision, “ he said. Rodgers called his future with the team “uncertain.” Although the organization is trying their best to make amends, they may have to look to move on from the MVP.
